The Circle
"The Circle" is a fearless, genreless collective. A curated sonic experiment where NYC's most prolific underground artists collaborate in spontaneous, raw musical improvisation.
This ever-expanding network of musicians, singers, poets, and creatives has been acclaimed by outlets including The New York Times, NPR’s Tiny Desk, COLORS, Okayplayer, and The FADER. Each installation of The Circle is a live sonic experiment, transforming simple words and ideas into fully realized performances on the spot—creating a living archive of the city’s evolving sound. The artists pick a prompt from a bowl, and commence in an immersive songwriting experience in real-time. In doing so, the audience is brought into a process of artistic inception-before their very eyes.
This artistic movement was founded and curated by Brooklyn natives Avangelia – a critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter, curator, producer, and DJ whose music has been featured by NPR Music, Tidal and New York Film Festivals – and Bobby Hall III – an accomplished multi-instrumentalist that has collaborated with Earth Wind and Fire, John Legend, HBO, MJ The Musical on Broadway. Together, they combine their expansive network of boundary-pushing creatives across disciplines, hosting installations at TIDAL headquarters, art galleries, and Los Angeles; all roads leading to The Cherry Lane Theatre on their two-year anniversary.
